As part of the growth of Championship 1 and of rugby league in general another non-heartlands club have today been announced as promoted in to the semi-pro ranks of the rugby league tier.
The Hemel Stags, from Hemel Hempstead in Hertfordshire, who were formed in 1981 have become one of the leading amateur team in the country in recent years and have provided the London Broncos and Sheffield Eagles with players who have proven themselves at the professional level.
Hemel Stags become the second, after Northampton, of the 4 new teams to be announced with the next two announcements due in the upcoming months.
